BEER FOR THE BOLD
Rooted in adventure, sustainability, and a commitment to fun, we aim to be the go-to for those who crave exceptional flavour, authenticity, and a bit of humour in their craft beer experience. We don’t believe in boring, always pushing boundaries to rethink what beer is and what it can be. Creativity runs through our veins, and our brewers love experimenting with fresh styles, seasonal ingredients, and the latest techniques.
IF JUICY HAZY'S, CRISP PILSNERS & WHACK EXPERIMENTAL BEERS ARE YOUR THING, YOU'VE COME TO THE RIGHT PLACE.

SUSTAINABILITY WITH EVERY SIP
At Canyon, we’re on a mission to let curiosity and innovation lead the way. That ethos is embedded in everything we do, and has paved our path to sustainability. And while we don’t take ourselves too seriously, we do take our impact on the planet seriously.
We’re on a journey to produce beer that treads a little lighter.

BEHIND THE BEERS
Canyon Brewing started in 2020 when four Queenstown locals with a shared love of great beer decided to craft something of their own.
The Paterson family — James, Jane, and Jack — are generational Central Otago farmers who know their land and love a good beer. Together with their mate Jimmy, they set out to build something different. No homebrew backstory or tinkering in a shed, just a clear idea: make bold, high-quality beer that speaks for itself, and have some fun along the way.
And so Canyon was born. Locally owned, locally brewed, and here to shake things up, one can at a time.

FROM HUMBLE BEGINNINGS
We kicked things off at our microbrewery in Arthurs Point, under the historic Edith Cavell bridge. Still going strong today, it's tucked behind the bar at our restaurant, with front-row views of the mighty Shotover River.
Back then, all we had was four small tanks, one brewer, and a mission to brew beers that were creative, approachable, and always crafted with sustainability in mind.

A NEW ERA: from farm to fridge
Fast-forward to 2022 and our beers were getting a bit of a name for themselves and we'd fast outgrown our Arthurs Point home. Luckily for us, the Paterson's background in farming allowed us to expand operations to Robrosa Station, their working sheep and cattle farm, in the picturesque Cardrona Valley.
We're now a two-site operation, cranking out small batch brews riverside in Queenstown, while the bigger stuff flows from the new commercial brewery in Cardrona.
With more tanks, more brewers, more space, and more capacity than ever, we're proudly pouring beers into supermarkets, bars, and hands across Aotearoa.
And while we’ve come a long way in 4 short years, our values still remain the same. Quality over quantity. Creativity over copycatting. And a deep respect for the land and people that make it all possible.
STILL LOCAL. STILL INDEPENDENT.
STILL BREWED FOR THE BOLD.
